Angel Montero - image coming soonAngel Montero

Angel started studying tango in early 2002, and soon he became addicted to the social aspect of the dance. He started organizing milongas in Atlanta and Djing even before he started his teaching career in 2006.

As a dancer, he has studied with some of he best social tango teachers touring the US, form milonguero legends like Cacho Dante, Ricardo Vidort and Ruben Harymbat, to some of the best teachers touring the US, like Robin Thomas, Tomas Howlin, Felipe Martinez and Eric Jorissen among others. Angel has also built a reputation as a teacher as well, and he has been invited himself to teach all over the Southeastern US (Augusta and Savannah, GA; Charleston, SC; Durham, and Asheville, NC; Birmingham, AL), Memphis, TN, St. Louis, and Kansas City, MO and Salamanca, in his native Spain.

As a DJ, Angel has developed his own style, always favoring highly rhythmic and danceable music, with D'Arienzo and Biagi as his favorites orchestras, but also with Calo and Di Sarli high in his preferences. Beyond his personal preferences, he believes that the dance floor dictates the music to be played, always with the ultimate goal of keeping dancers wanting to dance every single set of music, always for a different reason, and giving them every option. Among his influences, he mentions Robin Thomas, Shorey Myers and Ramu Pyreddy. Angel is often the DJ of choice in most tango events organized in the Southeast (Asheville, Charleston, Augusta, Charlotte, Durham) and has been also invited to be part of the DJ staff and further away festivals like Denver and Ann Arbor.

Christopher Nassopoulos and Caroline PeattieChristopher Nassopoulos

Teacher and DJ from San Francisco, California. (Pictured with Caroline Peattie.)

Christopher Nassopoulos has been dancing, teaching, and deejaying Argentine Tango for over eighteen years. He started when dinosaurs roamed the earth and "alternative" music was - believe it - valz and milonga. He has deejayed regularly at San Francisco's "El Valenciano" for the last seven years, and is often asked to deejay in cities where he and his wife and better half, Caroline, are invited to teach and dance.

Christopher's philosophy about deejaying is not so much about what one plays, as resisting the temptation to play every tango under the sun (or even a few oddballs). Certain arrangements, the tango standards, have consistently inspired dancers and endured throughout the decades, while other arrangements have come and gone, often according to the whim of deejays who wish to display some old "gem" that has been buried for fifty years (perhaps for good reason). Music drives the movement of the tango dancer as well as his/her place on the dance floor, and like a good friend or a comfortable outfit, quality arrangements bring out a relaxed quality in our dancing that makes the milonga less chaotic and thus more inviting and enjoyable.

Christopher strives to play music that keeps dancers on the floor (or happy to be listening) with a nice blend of upbeat vs. lyrical tangos, valzes, and milongas, and cool cortinas that will make you smile, while giving dancers plenty of time to find a new partner for that next (hopefully!) sublime tanda.
